Alan was the BEST brother in law anyone would wish for - I love him so much.... There are so many Alan stories -- but the one that springs immediately to mind is his eyesight test. Off Alan goes to Colchester to get his eyes tested... done and dusted.... then the lady asks him if he would like a "urine test". Alan looked at her in astonishment..."I didn't realize you did urine tests -- is it to check my prostate -- where shall I pee?" The lady looked absolutely shocked... "what do you mean?" I said HEARING tests. We laughed about that so much. Obviously that was one test Alan did need. Following on from that, he did eventually buy some very expensive hearing aids - which he used to put by his bedside table every night. And every night Lois told him to put them away as Barney was always hungry and would attempt to eat everything. Alan - with his obvious lack of hearing - didn't listen... so of course, Barney ate his very expensive £3,000 hearing aids. I always loved the cheese board Alan made -- and always tried to get him to give it to me, which he didn't want to do. One year we were in Italy and he saw a lovely piece of olive wood which he decided to buy me as a cheese board....I treasure it always... I could go on and on. Alan was vivacious, generous, loving, giving, blunt at times it must be said, so so positive -- but the absolute best. I treasure every thought and memory I have. I love you Alan - always and forever -- Sheree
